Welcome To Our Website

The Gemmological Association of New Zealand was established in 1979 to promote Gemmology, assist Gemmologists and assist with education in Gemmology in New Zealand.

We help with Gemmological Diploma courses, through either Gem-A (Gemmological Association of Great Britain) or GAA (Gemmological Association of Australia).

We also arrange the GAA Diamond Grading Certificate course in Auckland each year. (See Diamond Courses page)

We hold bi-annual seminars with prominent international speakers. See the summary of our last seminar (August 2026)

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Gemmology.

Our annual membership fee is $60.00, plus an initial $60 joining fee. ($120 for first year). Click on the Join Us option in the menu.

An evening with John Chapman

John Chapman will be visiting Auckland late November and has kindly agreed to give us a presentation at

The Parnell on the evening of Thursday 26 November. The presentation would be around detecting synthetic diamonds and also a talk on Pink Diamonds. There will be a demonstration and a hands-on-element for us.

Time: 6:30pm

Where: The Parnell (10~20 Gladstone Road, Parnell, Auckland).

Cost ($25.00) includes light refreshments.
